Discover Best Western Linko Hotel, Aubagne

Aubagne and sweet Provence

The town of Pagnol is an ideal base for exploring Provence.

The hills of Provence

On these sunny lands, we just smell the pine trees and fresh air of Provence and get lost in the hills told by the greatest, Giono, Alphonse Daudet, and especially Marcel Pagnol, the child of Aubagne.

Many walks are organized, on foot but also by bike or donkey to discover this vast territory.

The sea

To cool off, we enjoy a little dip in the Mediterranean and bask in the sun in one of those hidden coves that conceal the Calanques de Cassis.

Cassis and its pretty picturesque harbor, surrounded by two cliffs, is 15 km from the Best Western Linko Hotel. It is a good point of entry to the National Park of the Calanques.

Provençal markets

From the rooftop of the Best Western Linko Hotel, we are in the 1st row to discover the picturesque market of Aubagne.

Market every day except Monday and Wednesday, the most important being Tuesday.

Some tips from farmers markets where it is good to walk and buy quality products:

Roquevaire and its market on Friday morning, market of the Penne on Huveaune on Thursday morning.

Let us not forget to bring back some good local specialties: pastis Janot, olive oil, Rove goat cheese, wines…

Marseille

If you want a taste more agitated atmosphere, Marseille and the old port is the address indicated all!

At the fish market, is the excitement! From here you can follow Canebier, one of the major axes of the city. The bravest of us will climb the hill to the Basilica of Our Lady of the Guard and take advantage of this exceptional views of the city, the creeks and the sea.

Around Pagnol

The house where Pagnol was born in the center of Aubagne, has been furnished as it was in 1895, so that visitors can better appreciate the house she was at the time.

Established in an old bandstand, The Little World of Marcel Pagnol offers an exhibition of figurines, stage characters of Pagnol in a reconstruction of the landscape of the hills of Aubagne.
